Donna Gibbons- Director
Hello, my name is Donna Gibbons and I joined the Lake & Shore Community Recreation Board following its implementation. I became a director in August 2011.
I have lived in Chezzetcook most of my life and since 1983 my husband Larry and I have resided in Head of Chezzetcook where we have raised our children, Korey and Travis. I have worked within the healthcare system for 29 years. I began my career in the summer of 1986, as an Accounting Clerk at Twin Oaks Hospital in Musquodoboit Harbour. In 1997,I relocated to the Dartmouth General Hospital with the devolution of The Central Regional Health Board and in 2001 I relocated to Halifax under the umbrella of Capital District Health Authority, where I currently hold the position of Payroll Advisor.
Recreationally, I have tried many forms of dance from Ballet to Irish and most recently Belly Dancing. I enjoy the great outdoors while camping and walking. I attend group fitness classes in the beautiful Studio at our Lake & Shore Community Recreation Center.
I have been an active volunteer for many years, dating back to 1977 when I was a Beaver leader with the Boy Scout movement. While my children were in school I volunteered as the treasurer with the PSA at both Lakeview Elementary and Gaetz Brook Jr. High. On a community level, I held the position of treasurer at the West Chezzetcook Community Interest Group (Acadian House Museum and Blueberry Run Trail) for two years. My passion to stay engaged with our ever growing community and my focus regarding volunteer options to pursue while planning for a 2016 retirement date have brought me to my current role on the Lake & Shore Community Recreation Board.
